Obituary: Blanch "Lucille" Gentle Smith, 89, passed away Friday morning, December 7, 2018, at the Brian Center of Mooresville. Born October 14, 1929 in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Blanch Cannon Gentle. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Smith loved all of her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family members with cherished memories include her husband, Glenn Preston Smith, who she married February 25, 1941; her son, Mark Smith and wife, Debbie; her daughter, Glenda Grover and husband, Cyrus; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 8th from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Graveside services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Smith will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. Ron Hartman. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Smith's name to Hospice and Palliative Care, 7600 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226.
