Lucy Carithers Cox

Obituary: Lucy Carithers Cox, 86, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Five Oaks Nursing Center. Mrs. Cox was born March 10, 1928 in Madison County, Georgia to the late John Carithers and Reba Owens Carithers. Lucy was married to the late Graham Cox who preceded her. She was a loving simple homemaker; was a member of Bethany Bible Church; in the earlier years she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Cox Crites (Gene) of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Mandi Crites Smith (Michael), Scot Cox, and Brad Cox (Beth); four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Cox, Cheyenne Cox, Savannah Cox, and Grayson Cox; a brother, Bill Carithers (Sherrill); a daughter-in-law, Judy Cox; Good friends, Carol Carithers and Hazel Cox. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Barry Cox; brother, Hoyt Carithers; and a sister, Johnnie Mason. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Messina and Rev. Bobby Sutherland. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Bethany Bible Church, 623 N.
