Lucy Nunn Hord

Obituary: Lucy Nunn Hord, 92, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House with her family by her side. She was born on August 8, 1920 in Patrick County, VA. a daughter of the late Samuel A. and Mary Jane Craddock Nunn. In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by 10 siblings and a great granddaughter, Kayla Faith Salley. A service celebrating Lucy's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Grace Covenant Church with Rev. Glynn Weatherby Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the services at the church. Mrs. Hord was employed for 30 years at Cannon Mills as a spooler, and was a member of Grace Covenant Church for 55 years. Friends and family remember her as an avid Wonders fan attending games as long as her health would permit. She was a volunteer at Jackson Park Elementary School, enjoyed gardening, trips to Myrtle Beach and in her later years was especially fond of helping to raise her great great granddaughter, Mackenzie Hord. Lucy will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by three daughters; Glenda Honeycutt of Monroe, Karen VanDyke and husband Tim and Bonnie Hunter and husband Terry both of Kannapolis, eleven grandchildren; Judy Sellars and husband Shane of Rockwell, Jason Hord and Tara Trzeszkowski of Rockwell, Cindy Salley and husband Scott of Monroe, Sherry Williams and husband Ron of Monroe, Don Honeycutt Jr. and wife Tasha of Monroe, Laura Waller and husband Danny of Davidson, Barbara Rockett and husband Brent of Kannapolis, Beth Chapman and husband Randall of Concord, Tommy VanDyke of Kannapolis, Amy Bostian and husband Alan of Hickory, and Sarah Icard and husband Matthew of Kannapolis, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
