Obituary: Lucy Jane Efird Lovin, 86, of 109 Oak Grove Street, Kannapolis died on May 16, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2014 at New Hope Lutheran Ch. conducted by Rev. Roger Storms. Burial will take place at West Lawn Mem. Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends at the church 9:30-11:00 before the service. At other times they will be at the family home. Mrs. Lovin was the daughter of the late Beulah Kimball Efird and the late Franklin M. Efird. She graduated from J.W. Cannon High School and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. She retired from Kannapolis City School System in 1994 and was active in the Retired School Personnel Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell B. Lovin in 1996; and by two brothers, Elmer Eugene Efird and Dr. Frank K. Efird, both of Salisbury. Survivors include a daughter, Beth Dadisman and husband David of Great Falls, VA.; a son, Lowell Lovin, Jr. and wife Karen of Chester, VA.; grandchildren, Sally Dadisman, Alex Dadisman, and Katy Jones and husband, Justin. Lucy is also survived by a brother, H. Hoyle Efird of Cocoa Beach, FL. Mrs. Lovin was a charter member of New Hope Lutheran and was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Ch. before its merger. She was active in her church working on the Parish Fellowship Committee, the establishment of the Historical Room, a greeter, the Alter Guild, and church blood drives.
