Obituary: Lucy Wanda Helms Reece, 69, of Salisbury, surrounded by her two daughters; stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 9, 2009. She had been ill for two weeks. She was born Dec. 31, 1939 in Montgomery County, NC daughter of Mary Lucy Helms of Rockwell and the Late Wayne B. Helms. She was a lifelong member of Landis Baptist Church where she had served as church organist for over 50 years. She also sang in the Ladies' Trio for over 50 years. She coordinated flowers and meals for funerals and was a member of the Jessie Stirewalt Circle. She was always an active member of the church, and everything she did was to the glory of God. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at Landis Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Billy C. Honeycutt and Rev. Richard Horn .The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to final rites. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation for Mrs. Reece will be Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Landis Baptist Church. At other times the family will be at the residence of a daughter, Tammy Brown, 4915 Old Concord Road, Salisbury, NC 28146. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frankie Reece who died June 5, 2007 and a Son, Tony Reece who died in 1999. Survivors included two Daughters: Tammy Reece Brown and Husband Ted Brown of Salisbury, Kim Reece Steele and Husband Col. Tommy Steele of Carslile, Pa. Daughter in Law: Leslie Reece of California, one Sister: Brenda Lyles of Rockwll, Sister in Law: Betty Reece, Black Mt., NC, and four grandchildren: Jordan Brown, Corbin Steele, Reagan Brown and Karson Reece.
