Luke William Joiner Drawdy was a caring son, brother, husband, and friend. He left this world suddenly on November 23, 2021 at age 32 in a tragic car accident along with his spouse, Restin Drawdy.
He was born to Marshall and Judy Joiner on December 26, 1988 in Winston-Salem, NC. He was fifth of nine children, the second of the three boys. He was homeschooled, worked at a local Concord Starbucks for a few years before becoming a banker, eventually being named Assistant Vice President, Card Implementation Manager at Bank of America headquarters in Charlotte. He was excited about an upcoming promotion to Assistant Vice President, Project Manager.
Luke loved spending time with his extensive family and many friends through parties, family meals, and traveling all over the world with Restin. He had a gregarious personality and oftentimes chance encounters with strangers ended up with them becoming friends. He enjoyed gardening, singing, smiling, and helping others. He liked keeping in shape through running, yoga, and CrossFit, while also keeping up with his three dogs. He was known for being a great friend, very tall, giving great hugs, and as one of his favorite quotes said: “Always find a way to smile.”
Luke is survived by his parents and siblings; Shelley Duchemin (Mike), Jake Joiner (Rita), Amy Southerland (Daniel), Erin Joiner, Julianna Norbut (Nick), Grace Joiner, Bethany Joiner, Zeke Joiner, many nieces and nephews, as well as his chosen brother, Mitch Neugebauer.
There will be a Memorial reception for him and Restin at Whitley’s Funeral Home Annex, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Boulevard, Kannapolis, NC 28083, on Saturday, December 4, from 2-5 pm. It will be a drop in informal reception of friends and family. All are welcome.
