Obituary: Lula James Parks, 98, a special angel, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County. She was a resident of 312 S. East Ave., Kannapolis, NC. Mrs. Parks was born in Marshville, NC on September 20, 1911. She was the youngest and last surviving of thirteen children of the late Leroy James and the late, Viola Gaddy James. In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, she is also preceded in death by a daughter, Vera Caldwell and son, Mason Parks, and her husband, James Robert Parks. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church and retired from Cannon Mills Company after 41 years of service working in the Sewing Room. Survivors include her two sons: Keith Parks of Kannapolis who was her care giver for many years and Mitchell "Mickey" Parks and wife, Sylvia "Tootsie" Parks of Cary, NC. She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs. Parks will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Dwight Huffman. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 2:00 - 3:30 before the service.
