Lulabelle "Lucy" Smith Carver

Obituary: LulaBelle "Lucy" Smith Carver, 76, of Mooresville, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, June 8, 2012 from her home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 11 at Unity United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Whittington officiating. She will lie in-state at the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at Whitley's Funeral Home at other times they will be at her home. Lucy was born October 31, 1935 in Iredell Co., a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Hamilton Smith. She was a lifelong area resident and member of Unity United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for many years. Lucy worked for Cannon Mills for over 25 years as an inspector in the Cutting Dept. She loved her cats, scrap-booking, cooking and playing her piano. Lucy enjoyed caring for others and was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Jennings Carver in 2007, her grandson, Ronald Shore and her brothers, Clyde and Lloyd Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Fisher (Rick) of Kannapolis, Judy Sutherland (Kenny) of Mooresville, Cindy Benton (Jerry) of Kannapolis; her son, Tim Carver (Sherry)of Kannapolis; her sisters, Katherine London of Crumpler, NC and Polly Brown of Kannapolis.
