Obituary: Luther Earl Hatley, 84, passed away Thursday, February 07, 2013 at the Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House. Mr. Hatley was born February 20, 1928 in Cabarrus County to the late James Luther Hatley and Elona Scott Hatley. Earl was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church; was retired from the U.S. Kannapolis Post Office; and he was a U.S. Navy Veteran. A funeral service will be held 2:30 P.M. Sunday, February 10, 2013 at New Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kim E. Trabold officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 P.M. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Audrey Hatley of the home; two daughters, Amy(Michael)Hilberath of Simpsonville, S.C and Linda(Mike) Prevo of Mooresville, NC; four grandchildren, Christopher Rush, Amber Burdette, James Prevo, Jr.,and Calli Prevo; three great- grandchildren, Austin Cummings, Brilynn Burdette, and Mia Burdette; two brothers, Bill Hatley and Bob Hatley; and a sister, Lucy Goodman. Memorials may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1615 Brantley Road Kannapolis, NC 28083 or to Bob and Carolyn Hospice House 300 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081.
