Obituary: Kannapolis, NC - Lydia Virginia Coleman Garver Beaver, 93, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Best of Care Assisted Living. Her family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, Saturday, April 18, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park. Rev. Dr. Cathy A. Cook, Mrs. Beaver's granddaughter, will officiate. Born October 12, 1915, in Cabarrus County, Virginia was the oldest of 12 children of the late William Luther Coleman and the late Cora Belle Springer Coleman. Preceding her in death were husband's Kinnie W. Garver and Adam Beaver, and sisters: Mary C. Smith, Margie Coley, Willie Maxwell, Ruth Austin, and Faye Tucker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Enochville, where she was active in all programs while she was physically able. Survivors include two daughters: Ann Garver Cook of Concord, Shirley Garver Rakes of Rockwell, and three sons: John Garver, Tommy Garver, and Michael Garver all of Kannapolis. She is also survived by sisters: Mae Blackwelder and Martha Earnhardt, and brothers: James Coleman, Bob Coleman, Bill Coleman and W.L. Coleman, Jr. Step children: Linda Beaver, Jim Beaver, and Pat Bennett also survive her. She had 20 much loved grandchildren, and a number of great and great-great grandchildren. The family is especially grateful to the loving, caring staff of Best of Care, and Hospice of Cabarrus County.
