Mabel Hatmaker Absher

Obituary: Mabel Hatmaker Absher, 91, of Harrisburg, formerly of Kannapolis died Friday, November 23, 2012 at CMC-NE in Concord after a week-long bout with pneumonia. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 25 at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Grigg officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church, prior to the funeral, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM Sunday. Mabel was born in Hazard, KY on December 1, 1920, a daughter of the late Jerry and Octavia Messer Hatmaker. She was a long-time area resident and member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Mabel worked for Cannon Mills Co. as a spinner in Plant #1 for 42 years, retiring in 1986. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Lee Absher in 2009 and also by 6 brothers and sisters and a half-brother and a half-sister. She is survived by her son, Randy Absher (Betty) of Harrisburg, her daughter, Judy A. Carestio (Ralph) of Allen TX; grandchildren, Jacob Absher (Hope) of Harrisburg, Stacy Champagne (Paul) of McKinney TX and Rodney Honeycutt of Concord; Step-grandchildren, Julie Carlinnia and Dan and Bill Carestio; great-grandchildren, Zack and Wes Honeycutt, Mallory and Nick Champagne; step-great-grandchildren, Mira and Ella Carlinnia and Mitchell, Jackson and Ruby Carestio.
