Mae Evelyn Jordan Ballard

Obituary: Mae Evelyn Jordan Ballard, 83, of China Grove passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Tucker Hospice House. She was born October 5, 1933 in Chesterfield County, SC, a daughter of the late Carson Newsome Jordan and Ola Mae Rivers Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Ballard, a grandson, Steven Ballard and two brothers, Legrand Jordan and Richard Jordan. Mae retired from Cannon Mills after many years of service. She was a lifelong member of Westside Church of the Nazarene where she had been a former Sunday school teacher. Mae also loved to decorate cakes for the public. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 at Westside Church of the Nazarene officiated by Rev. Gary Tankersley, Rev. Jonathan Parrish and Rev. Dodd Parrish. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Mae is survived by her son, Mike Ballard (Cathy) of Locust, her daughter, Lisa White (Mark) of China Grove, grandchildren, Shelley Ballard, Christy White, Julia Walter (Kenny), greatgrandchildren, Karah Lanham, Alexa Poplaski, Nathan Nowak, Madyx Nowak, Devon Ballard and her sister, Betty Jo Stack. The family would like to give thanks to the staff at the Tucker Hospice House, especially Christy Sigmon and Sharon Pack for the love and care shown to Mae and the family.
