Mae Osborne Cole went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from her earthly home in Kannapolis after a period of declining health. She was 100 years old.
Services to celebrate Mae’s life will be held at Lakeview Baptist Church at 3:00PM Sunday, December 8. Her grandson, Pastor Jeff Cole, will officiate. Her family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:00PM Sunday. Private family burial will follow on Monday at Carolina Memorial Park.
Mae was born March 23, 1924, in Wilkes County. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ollie Wingler Osborne. In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Cole and her son, Thomas Ray Cole.
“Mawmaw Cole” as she was affectionally known as by her family, church and community is survived by her 3 grandchildren, Angela Wilson (Wayne), Pastor Jeffrey Cole (Kelly) and Kenneth Cole (Kim), her 7 great-grandchildren, Hannah Cole Hiatt, Hunter Wilson, Lindsey Cole, Hayden Wilson, Austin Cole, Abigail Cole and Pheobe Cole, 1 great-great-grandson, Buxton Hiatt and her daughter-in-law, Peggy Cole. She has one surviving sister, Grace Hege.
Mae was a long-time area resident and former member of Jackson Park Baptist Church. She retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 1 as a weaver. She was a caregiver to many friends and family and loved by all that knew her. She enjoyed cooking for her family and for many years cooked a big Sunday lunch for her family every week. She was known for her kindness, generosity and strong work ethic. She loved spending time with her family.
