Obituary: Landis, NC- Mae Miller James, age 93, of 127 S. Beaver Street, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC She was born May 30, 1915 in Yale County, Arkansas, the adopted daughter of her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Archer. She was employed with the former Linn-Corriher Mills, Landis, NC for more 50 years until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Landis, NC for most of her adult life. She was considered by her family as a special loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great-great-grandmother. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Newel D. James, a grandson, Jerry Lynn James, a great-grandson, Christopher Cody James, and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Moser James. The funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Landis, NC officiated by Rev. Jarrod Lanning. A graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 1, 2009 at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her son, Jerry Lee James of China Grove, NC; three grandchildren, Robin James Morris and husband, Terry Morris, Rick James, and Marty Robert James; twelve great-grandchildren including Kathryn Morris, whom she considered very special in her life; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.
