Manzie Chandler Nelms

Obituary: Manzie Chandler Nelms, 83, of Bertha Street Kannapolis, NC died Friday, January 15, 2010 at CMC-NE. Mrs. Nelms was born in Jefferson Co., AL on November 6, 1926, the daughter of the late Will Chandler and the late Susie Hicks Chandler. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Randolph Nelms as well as 8 brothers, 4 sisters, a grandson Scott Garmon, and a great granddaughter Maggie Elaine Hunter. She was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church and retired in 1996 from Fieldcrest Cannon Inc. where she worked in the Wash Cloth Dept. at Plant 1. Mrs. Nelms is survived by daughter Brenda Nelms Garmon and husband Eddy of Atlanta, GA. Two sons, Ron D. Nelms and wife, Kathy of China Grove and Daryl Nelms of Concord. Also, by 3 grandchildren; Trina Garmon Hunter and husband, Joey, Summer Nelms Faw and husband, Chris, and Ryan Nelms. By 9 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, and brother Jack Chandler of Pinson AL. The funeral service for Mrs. Nelms will take place at 6:30 on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jim Gregg Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, Jan. 17th. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 P.M. on Saturday before the service.
