Marcelle Menius Helms

Obituary: Marcelle Menius Helms, 82, of Holden Beach, formerly of Kannapolis passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. She was born July 25, 1931 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Neal and Icie Menius. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Helms and two brothers, Lucky and Frank Menius. She had formerly worked at Cannon Mills and Hooper Hosiery Mill. She was a member of Brunswick Islands Baptist Church in Supply. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 19th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Bruce Graham. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday prior to services. She is survived by three children, Danny Phillips and wife, Linda of Kannapolis, Nina Wayne and husband, Delmar of Davidson, Terry Phillips and wife, Maria of Madison, Ga., 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a brother, Bobby Menius of Biloxi, Ms. and sister, Atha Menius of Concord.
