Mardice Brewington Thomas

Obituary: - Mardice Brewington (Sis) Thomas, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after two years of illness. She was born June 23, 1939 in Spartanburg County, SC, the daughter of the late Luther Brewington and Lilly Mae Pressley Brewington. She was employed with the former Robinson Net Hosiery Mill for many years. A member of the Baptist faith, she had lived in this area moving here from Spartanburg in 1956. She is fondly remembered as a collector of cats, salt and pepper shakers, and her baby dolls. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lloyd Thomas who died June 1, 2001; two sons, Ricky D. Thomas and Roger D. Thomas; and two brothers, Leroy Brewington and Isaac Brewington; and a sister, Sandra Kirby. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:30 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Mark Carnes and Rev. Mike Fongemy. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the funeral home. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda K. Thomas of Concord, NC; one son, Billy W. Thomas of Locust, NC; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Bishop of Lovelady, Texas; and one brother, LeRoy Brewington of Spartanburg, SC.
