Margaret Lucille (Davis) Blackwelder

Margaret Lucille Davis Blackwelder, of Landis, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, June 11, 2023, from her home. She will celebrate her 97th birthday in Heaven.

Born August 9, 1926, in Alexander County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Josie Davis.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nathan W. Blackwelder, Sr., a daughter, Judy Mechum, brother, Glenn Davis, sister, Blanche Deason and a grandson, Austin Beverly.

Mrs. Blackwelder retired from the wash cloth department of Cannon Mill Plant #1, after more than 36 years of devoted service.  She had been a faithful member Central Baptist Church. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all of her much-loved family, church family and friends.

Family members include her children, Kay Fisher, and Nathan W. “Sonny” Blackwelder, Jr.; son-in-law, James R. Mechum; her grandchildren, Jeff Fisher (Tracy), John Fisher (Kim), Eric Mechum and Trudy Beverly (Eddie); great-grandchildren, JT Fisher (Kelly), Savannah Fisher, Ashley and Allyson Haywood, and Cameron Beverly; great-great grandchildren, Beau and Carleigh Fisher, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm Friday, June 16th, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

The family would especially like to thank Emily Kennedy, for all the love and care she gave to Mamaw, as well as Vickie Williams and Jennifer DoMinguez.
