Margaret Helms

Obituary: Margaret Church Helms, 94, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017. She was born July 27, 1922 in Iredell County, a daughter of the late Roy Grover Church and Eulalia Benfield Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jackson Helms, Jr., daughter, Faye Helms Smith, sisters, Mary Adams, Helen Beaver, Ruby Cheek, brothers, William Buck Church and Paul Church. Margaret worked in Cannon Mills for over 45 years. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where she had been past President of the Seniors group. She was also a member of the U.C. T. of America #853 for many years and was the first woman president. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Memorial Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Don Davis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at the church. She is survived by her son, Steven Wayne Helms and wife, Sandy of Kannapolis, 3 grandchildren, Bobby Helms, Steven Helms, Lori Tate, two great grandchildren, Christian Griffin, Landon Richards-Helms, brother, Roy Church Jr, of Raleigh, sisters, Joan Sherrill of Mooresville and Ann Smith of Johnson City, Tn.
