Margaret Lunell (Hipsher) Long

Margaret Lunell Hipsher Long, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Friday, December 1, 2023.

Margaret was born on April 29, 1935 in Ohio. She was a cherished daughter of the late Arthur Hipsher and Edith Priest Hipsher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Richard "Dick" Long; son, David Long and sister, Patricia Whaley.

Margaret was a selfless and devoted soul. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She was a beacon of warmth and compassion, touching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Margaret had an unwavering love for her family and an undeniable passion for the outdoors. She found joy in bird watching and tending to her yard, plants, and flowers of all kinds. Her love for the outdoors extended to her family, as she spent countless moments camping with her children as they grew up. She was a devoted mom who adored her family and created countless memories camping under the stars with her husband and sons.

For 28 years, Margaret dedicated herself to a fulfilling career as a school bus driver in Michigan. She had a passion for looking after children, especially the time she shared with her grand and great grandchildren.

Margaret was a member of Midway United Methodist in Kannapolis, where she was a member of the Hettie Womble Women's Ministry.

Most of all, Margaret loved spending time with her family. She was the cornerstone of her family and will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Mike Long (Deb), Jim Long (Rita); grandchildren, Natalie Roseman (Chris), Brian Long (Stephanie), Lacy Andrews, Sarah Lunsford, and Bess-Margaret Long; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Mackenzie Roseman, Garrett, Ezekiel and Logan Long, Taylor Hoffman, Kaylee Vice and Lucy Delude; brother, John Hipsher (Carole) and sister, Catherine Wiles (Don).

Receiving of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 10-11:00AM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00AM at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel.
