Margaret Hudson Sloop, 97, of Charlotte formerly of Kannapolis passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at Brighton Gardens of Charlotte after a period of declining health. Private services will be held. Margaret was born July 5, 1924 in Elizabethtown, NC. She was the last surviving of six children born to the late David Curtis and Alice Pitman Hudson. In addition to her parents and siblings, Margaret was also preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt O. Sloop. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church of Kannapolis where her devotion to the church and reading of the Word of God reflected not only in herself but her children.
For many years Margaret worked as a Driver’s License Examiner in Concord, NC until she retired.
Margaret was an avid basket weaver with a talent for arts and crafts. There wasn’t a project or task that she couldn’t tackle.
Margaret was ardently devoted to her children and was a loving Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Family gatherings were a highlight of her life. Togetherness with family was essential to her to create memories that last a lifetime.
At the celebration of her 95th birthday she explained how she believed her longevity was likely due to a faithful regime of starting each day with a walk with the dog, Chelsea, and eating a half of a banana with oatmeal then ending each day with her daily devotions.
Survivors include her son, Curtis Sloop (Deborah) of Belmont, Deborah Brown (Jim) of Hanahan, SC and Mindy Martin (Milton) of Charlotte, her grandchildren; Brad Sloop, Jim Brown IV (Carrie), Elizabeth Dewar (Eric), Tom Brown (Monique) and her great-grandchildren; Breanna, Kayla, Allison, Jack, Aubrey, Nate, Carter and Samuel.
