Obituary: Margaret "Maggie" Knight Milem, 81, of Wilkesboro, formerly of China Grove, died Thursday August 26, 2010 at Britthaven of Wilkesboro following a period of declining health. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 29, 2010 in Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. George Morris and Rev. Marler Starnes. Internment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 P.M. immediately prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Milem was born March 30, 1929 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Thomas Samuel McNeal Knight and Dovie Luann Jackson Knight. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Cannon Mills Plant #1 for 30 years. She was a loyal member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church in Kannapolis. She truly loved her church and her fellow members. She loved to sew, knit and crochet. She is survived a Son: Jerry Ball of Hayes, NC, three Daughters: Ann Ball (James) Johnson and Bettina Ball Billings both of Hayes, NC and Wanda Ball (Wayne) Curtis of Purlear, NC. She is also survived by two sisters: Katherine K. Waldroup of Kannapolis and Linda K. Webster of Salisbury. 10 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Brenda Carol Ball and a Son: Thomas Howard Ball. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church Street # 336M Charlotte, NC 28202-3247 or to Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, 509 West 22nd Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
