Margaret Leona Cates Russell

Obituary: Margaret Leona Cates Russell, 91 of Kannapolis died Thursday, October 13, 2011at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born September 2, 1920 in Henderson County, Ky. a daughter of the late William Carl and Lucy Alice Shouley Cates. She and her late husband attended North Kannapolis Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Russell was employed in the sewing room at Cannon Mills Plt. #1 retiring with 20 years of service. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.Services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 16, 2011 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Carolina Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Chris O'Guinn. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at their respective residences. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Eugene F. Russell who died in 2001and two sisters, Beatrice Mull and Lida Harrington both of Kannapolis.She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Russell Bonds of Charlotte, Barbara (Ken) Johnson and Sandra (David) Cline both of Kannapolis, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 29 great great grandchildren.
