Margaret Sechler

Obituary: - Margaret Sloope Sechler, age 90, was called to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. She was born July 10, 1923 in Rowan County, NC, the daughter of the late A. Jerome Sloope and Maude Beaver Sloope. Margaret was educated in the Rowan County schools having graduated at Landis High School in 1940 as salutatorian of her class. Margaret had worked at the former Cannon Mills Company, in the Cotton Dept. office. Later, in San Antonio, TX she was employed with Dunn & Bradstreet followed by employment with the State of California in Sacramento. She was a homemaker and spent the larger portion of her life loving and taking care of her family. She was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Kannapolis, NC where she participated in the Womens Guild, various Circles of the church, and volunteered with various phases of church activities. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and church family. She especially enjoyed spending time watching the sunsets over Lake Norman. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandsons, Erich and Kris. They were truly the lights of her life. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Perry Sloope. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Dr. H. Warren Casiday. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the service. The remainder of the time the family will be at the residence. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 70 years, Harold M. Sechler; a son, Michael H. (Carolyn) Sechler of Mint Hill, NC; a daughter, Julia S. (Terry) Caudle of China Grove, NC; and grandsons, Kristopher (Holly) Caudle of Chapel Hill, NC and Erich Sechler of Charlotte, NC. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 901 N.
