Margaret Wellmon Steen

Obituary: Margaret Wellmon Steen, 89, of Kannapolis died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center, Concord following a period of declining health. She was born February 20, 1923 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Lee and Ollie Nash Wellmon. Mrs. Steen was a member of Pleasant Avenue Freewill Baptist Church. She had retired as an inspector in the cloth room of Plt. #1, Cannon Mills with 45 years of service. She loved all children, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Huey "Pete" Steen who died August 20, 2005 and a daughter, Carol Steen Weaver who died in 1997. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Steen Goodnight of Kannapolis, two grandchildren, Ashley Goodnight and Jeff Weaver and wife Tammy all of Kannapolis, one great granddaughter, Calista Love of Concord and one great great granddaughter, Savannah Rose Love of Concord. One sister, Hazel Greene and two brothers, Charles and Bobby Wellmon also survive. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. John Jones, Sr. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 Noon Saturday prior to the services. At other times they will be at the residence.
