Margaret Taylor Russell passed from this Earth into God’s arms on March 27th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on June 22nd, 1949 to the late Willie J. and Cora Louise Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her treasured son, C.T. “Russ” Russell.
Margaret lived a full and vibrant life marked by her creativity, love, beauty, and wit. A proud graduate of Central Cabarrus High School, Class of 1967, Margaret went on to get her bachelor’s degree from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, NC. She was Freshman Beauty of her high school class and was also a terrific basketball player. She made many, many lifelong friends during her school years (from elementary to College).
She excelled in everything she did, and she was a devout Christian that had God, family, friends and joyful memories as priorities in her life. Margaret was a woman of intelligence and spirit, who brought warmth and laughter wherever she went. She would even pen personal poems for friends in times of grief or happiness. Her words could make you laugh, cry, and think – often all at the same time.
In addition to her creative writing, she also had an artist’s eye. She was a fantastic photographer, artist, and even did interior design. She could also work magic with a sewing machine. She created outfits for her dolls when she was younger, for herself and others as she got older, and even for her young children and grandchildren.
To know Margaret was to experience her fun-loving spirit, her beautiful creativity, and her unmatched sense of humor. She loved adventures and her laughter was contagious.
Margaret is survived by her loving boyfriend, Will Whitley; her devoted daughters Ellie Pope (Terry) and Keira Russell; her treasured grandchildren Hunter Snow (Emilia), Jacob Harmon, and Emma Harmon; and her beloved great grandchildren Lydia Snow and Finn Snow. She also leaves behind her dear brothers Jim Taylor and Glenn Taylor, many loving family members, and a host of lifelong friends who were also her family.
Her legacy is one of Faith, love, laughter, creativity, and the ability to make every gathering brighter. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held at 1:30PM on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Broadus Church in Concord. The family will receive friends following the Memorial Service.
