Obituary: Margaret (Kit) Bost Whitaker 90, of Kannapolis, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast following a brief period of declining health. Mrs. Whitaker was born in Cabarrus County on May 27, 1924 a daughter of the late Beveard and Margaret Rhyne Bost. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband; James Leon Whitaker, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Kit graduated from Winecoff High School in 1941. She joined Midway United Methodist Church at age 11 and served as church secretary from 1951 to 2010. Along with secretarial responsibilities, Kit was a loyal member of the church choir and very involved in other church activities. Prior to working at Midway U.M.C. she was employed by Cannon Mills. Services to celebrate Mrs. Whitaker's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Midway United Methodist Church with Rev. Will Van Wieren, Rev. Mike Collins, and Rev. Don Noblitt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home. She is survived by a brother; Lloyd Lee Bost and wife Elizabeth of Austin, TX, 5 sisters; Betty Bost Wishon of Cooleemee, NC, Carolyn Bost Shores of Concord, Sarah Bost of China Grove, Beverly Bost Miller and husband Kirby of Kannapolis, and Lynn Bost McCredie of Concord, and several nieces and nephews.
