Obituary: Margie Elizabeth Rodgers Dennis, 97, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 13, 2016, as she passed away peacefully at her residence. Margie was born 3rd out of 12 children, on May 6, 1919 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Nora Rodgers and late Bruner Rodgers of Kannapolis. Margie was a member of Kannapolis Church of God. She was employed by Cannon Mills, as an inspector, retiring with 45 years of service. Margie was dearly loved, as a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother. She was always a caregiver to anyone who needed her, especially her family. She loved baking pecan pies, and caring for her extraordinary garden. She will be truly missed by her family and all who knew her. In addition, to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Dennis of Kannapolis, four brothers William, Tricy, Otis, and Jimmy Rodgers all of Kannapolis, two sisters Pauline Rodgers; Ada Myers of Kannapolis a grandson, Rodney Ashby, step son, Don Dennis, two son-in-laws, Bobby Ashby and Rev. Eddie Black. Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters Brenda Black of Concord, Sylvia Ashby of Concord, and Barlene Lewis and husband, Sammy of China Grove. Four stepchildren Sherry Davis, Suzie Dennis, Ronald Dennis, Keith Dennis and Kathy Day. Her two granddaughters, Tabatha Ashby Austin and husband, Andy of Tennessee, Stacie Lewis Dry and husband, Jason of Concord. Five great grandchildren Ashby, Cole and Drew Austin all of Tennessee, Lawson and Ryker Dry of Concord. One brother, LaVaughn Rodgers, three sisters Fannie Belle Waldrop, Thelma Graham, Amelia Fowler. Her service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Dr. R.J. Hammond and Dr. Greg Sloop. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
