Margie Harrington

Obituary: Margie Hartsoe Harrington, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, Salisbury, NC. Sadly, she passed away on her husband's birthday. She was born May 29, 1926 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Otis P. Dancy and Ethel Mae Huffman Dancy. In earlier years Margie worked as a dental assistant and later with the former B. Elwood Durham real estate office. She was a representative for Avon cosmetics for twenty years. In the 1990's she worked at the Belk's Budget Fair in the Cloverleaf Shopping Center as a seamstress until retirement. Margie was a member of Southside Baptist Church, China Grove, NC. Her family remembers her love of sewing, crocheting, and cooking. She loved flowers always rooting new growth cuttings so she could plant them. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer W. Hartsoe, Jr. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Gene Edwards. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Plaza Mausoleum, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. The family will be at the home of her daughter the remainder of the time. Survivors include her beloved husband, William L. (Samp) Harrington, Sr.; her children, Rick W. Hartsoe & wife, Kathy of Eden, NC and Linda Miller Harrington & husband, Bill of Kannapolis, NC; her stepchildren, Bill Harrington of Kannapolis, NC; John Harrington of Chesney, SC; Bobby Harrington; and Robin Miller; grandchildren, Samantha Hartsoe and Kirsten Hartsoe, both of Eden, NC; and Catherine M. McCracken & husband, Arthur of Kannapolis, NC; one special great-grandchild, Alexander McCracken; two brothers, Clinton Dancy of China Grove, NC and Sherrill Dancy of Salisbury, NC; and a niece, Ann Edgison of Kannapolis, NC.
