Obituary: Margie Lee Helms Scarboro, 93, of Kannapolis, NC passed away at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Margie was born on June 16, 1923 in Iredell Co., NC, the daughter of the late Edgar Helms and the late Della Bass Helms. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Denise S. Helms; 5 brothers, James Helms, Robert Helms, Richard Helms, William Helms and Frank Helms; 3 sisters, Bea Weddington Sprinkle, Evelyn Pressley and Pauline Hedrick. Margie was employed with Cannon Mills for 48 years where she worked as a hemmer in the Pillowcase Dept. She was a member of Kannapolis Church of God where she participated in the Ladies Ministries, Sunday school, Jr. Dept. and the church choir. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, David Scarboro; a son, Gary Scarboro (Sheila); a daughter, Cynthia Holder (Tony); grandchildren; Sandy McLean (Mitch), Mallory Burleson (Eric), Jennifer Hollis, Kendra Holder, Zach Scarboro (Megan) and Kevin Helms (Brandy); great-grandchildren; Joshua, Jayda, Ryan, Remington, Easton and Jaxon. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Archie Helms (Donna). The service for Mrs. Scarboro will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Kannapolis Church of God conducted by Dr. Greg Sloop. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30-2:00 before the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Tucker Hospice House for the love and compassion offered to Margie during her stay at the facility.
