Obituary: Margie Flora Overcash Shepherd, age 84, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at her home. She was born August 26, 1928 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late John W. Overcash and Lillian Freeze Overcash. Margie was employed with General Time, Davidson, NC for twenty years. She was known for her farming and raising chickens at her farm for years. She was an active member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Concord, NC where she sang in the choir and was active in many phases of church activities. She is fondly remembered by family and friends as a caregiver and would help anyone in need. Margie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family and they loved spending time with her. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Jack) Shepherd; and a brother, Elbert (Bud) Overcash. The funeral service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Danny Wilson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her three sons, Thomas W. Shepherd & wife, Sheila of Oak Island, NC; Charles Shepherd, Jr. & wife, Hilda of Concord, NC; and James Mikeal Shepherd, Sr. & wife, Cynthia of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Andy Shepherd, Michael Shepherd, Dawn Shepherd, and Stacy Harris; great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Shepherd, Hayley Harris, Carley Jo Harris, Raven Shepherd, and Claire Williford; and two sisters, Louise Elwood of Concord, NC and Lola Mae Irvin of Florida. Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 4149 Odell School Road, Concord, NC 28027.
