Maria Del Carmen Morales Rojas

Obituary: Maria Del Carmen Morales Rojas, age 75, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the home of her son, Abiezer and her daughter-in-law, Jayne. She had moved to Kannapolis, NC to live with her son for the past two months. She was born on October 1, 1937 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Enrique Morales Lugo and Maria Del Carmen Rojas Correa. Maria was employed for many years as a seamstress. She was also a homemaker for much of her life. Her family fondly remembers her love of gardening especially flowers, fruits and vegetables. She was also an animal lover especially farmer animals. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by children, Luis R. Mercado and Carmen M. Mercado. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Whitley's Fuenral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the funeral home. A rosary service will be said at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Survivors include her three sons, Abiezer Mercado & wife, Jayne Mercado of Kannapolis, NC and Hector M. Mercado & wife, Maria N. Mercado of Raeford, NC, and Juan C. Mercado of Arecibo, Puerto Rico; a daughter, Sandra Y. Mercado of Arecibo, Puerto Rico; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four brothers, Elson A.
