Marie Hamm Drye

Obituary: Marie Hamm Drye, age 83, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Caremoor Assisted Living, Kannapolis, NC. She was born January 23, 1927 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Rev. P.J. Parker and Dovie Spears Parker. Marie was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt.# 4 for 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Westside Church of the Nazarene, Kannapolis, NC where she was active in various phases of church activities. She is fondly remembered as a special, loving mother. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J.T. Drye who was an evangelist and pastor for 65 years; four brothers; and one sister. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Charles Savage. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday December 13 at the funeral home. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Lowery & husband, David of Kannapolis, NC and Patty Hardeman and husband, Grady of Kannapolis, NC and Terry Coleman & husband, Neil of Statesville, NC; A step-son, Phillip Drye of Kannapolis, NC; Five grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Tammy, Grady, and Sara; Eight great-grandchildren, Brock, Erica, Buddy, Cy, Jordan, Lindsey, Candice, and Jennifer; and a host of many friends.
