Marie Laney Parks

Obituary: Marie Laney Parks passed away on December 4, 2011 after several years of declining health. Mrs. Parks was born in Union County, NC on October 6, 1917 and moved to Kannapolis around 1940. She was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC.Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Parks, in 1985. She is survived by a sister, Claudie Burgess of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by her nephew, Sherrill Laney and wife, Sue Laney, who were her caretakers for the past 26 years, and by many other nieces and nephews in NC, SC, and TN. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Rickey Oxford. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the chapel prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of Caremoor Retirement Center for their loving care and concern, Tinky Whittington, and Hospice of Cabarrus County, and Brenda Daniels who was her friend and part-time caregiver for the last two years.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or Shadybrook Baptist church, 1009 Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the chapel prior to the service.

Service: The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Whitleys Funeral Home Annex Chapel, Kannapolis, NC.

Interment: Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.
