Marie Royal Perry

Obituary: Marie Royal Perry, age 86, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Genesis Eldercare, Salisbury, NC where she had lived for the past six years. She was born January 30, 1926 in Wilkes County, NC, the daughter of the late Coy Lee Royal and Ennis Wyatt Royal. Marie was employed with the former Cannon Mill Company, Plant #1 #4 Spinning Room for thirty-three years until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC for many years where she had served as choir director. Her family fondly remembers her love of singing from the time she was a child. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd A. Perry who died October 4, 1987. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Ronnie Cooper and Rev. Roger Waggoner. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. The family will be at the home of Brett and Kim Crosby, 1355 Red Birch Place, Kannapolis, NC the remainder of the time. Survivors include two sons, Bill Perry of Myrtle Beach, SC and Ric Perry (Elayne) of Kannapolis, NC; a daughter, Margaret Carpenter of Salisbury, NC; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Royal of N. Wilkesboro, NC; and one sister, Edna Mae Stamper of China Grove, NC.
