Marilyn (Walkup) Houchin

Marilyn Walkup Houchin, 70, of China Grove, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2023 at her residence.

Marilyn was born on August 13, 1952 in McCurtain County Oklahoma. She was a cherished daughter of the late Carl Walkup and Cora Lee Long Walkup. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Houchin and grandchildren, Christopher Jones and Alyssa Houchin.

Marylin was an extremely hard worker. She spent her life taking care of her family and working in the cotton mills. Marylin loved old country music, such as Loretta Lynn and Elvis. She also enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles. She was a kind and gentle lady, who will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sheila Houchin, BJ Barnette, and Raymond Houchin; grandchildren, Greg Jones, Brina Powers, Kayla Bowers, Heather Hutchins, Cody Guiton, CJ Houchin, Kenneth Houchin and Arya Powers.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2023 at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
