Marilyn Ann Mearing, 64, formerly of Kannapolis, passed away Wednesday evening, June 24, 2020, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
Born December 5, 1955 in Rowan County, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Lawrence Richard Freeman, Sr. and Annie Lou Ballard Freeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a baby sister, Wanda Freeman, and a brother, Mickey Freeman.
Marilyn was a 1974 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. She continued her education at Brookstone Business College, receiving an associate’s degree in accounting and business management. Among other professional positions, she truly enjoyed being the office manager for a landscaping company. Marilyn had been a member of Central Baptist Church for more than 30 years before moving to Statesville, where she joined Western Avenue Baptist Church in 2010. Marilyn enjoyed traveling and “seeing the world” with her husband, Herb. She had a great love for her Lord, her church, her church family and friends. Mrs. Mearing also loved her canine companion, Harley. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her love and faithfulness are remembered and celebrated here on earth, but Heaven's celebration is far greater today.
Family members left to cherish Marilyn’s memory include her devoted husband of 14 years, Herb Mearing; her children, Heather King (Robert), Matthew Mearing (Skylar) and Heather Bell; 4 grandchildren; her brother, Lawrence Richard Freeman, Jr. and extended family members.
We gather to celebrate the life, love and legacy of Marilyn as the family will receive friends Sunday, June 28th from 2:30-4:00 pm at Central Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 pm in the church, conducted by Pastors Jeff Spry and Dean Hunter. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park at 10 am Monday morning, June 29th.
Whitley’s Funeral Home is serving the family and friends of Mrs. Mearing.
