Mark Walter Hunsucker Sr.

Mark Walter Hunsucker Sr., 60, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2020.

Mark was born on November 27, 1959 in Cabarrus County to the late Daniel Deese Hunsucker and Bernice Meeks Hunsucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Hunsucker and grandsons, Tristian Akers and Brandon Akers.

Mark spent his career as a truck driver, having most recently worked for OB Builders Inc. Mark was a faithful member of Ben Avenue Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a music director and Sunday School teacher. He was a full patch member of Disciple Christian Motorcycle Club, known as Disciple Mark, DFFD, and Prayer Sargent. In his free time, he loved racing, fishing, camping, taking trips to the beach, riding his motorcycle, and was a food connoisseur.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 27 years, Linda Hobbs Hunsucker; daughters, Robin (Phillip) Funderburk of Wilmington, Roxanne (Michael – deceased) Pond of Ansonville, Tausha (David) McCraven of Kannapolis, and Tonya (Wesley) Medlin of Hilton Head; sons, Ray (Monica) Ratliff of Jacksonville FL; Mark “J.R.” Hunsucker Jr. and significant other, Jessica Stirewalt of Kannapolis, and Richard Ratliff and significant other, Lanette Deaton, of Enochville; 23 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren who will all miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on  Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Ben Avenue Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Don Draughn officiating. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ben Avenue Free Will Baptist Church, 611 Ben Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
