Mark Lynn Overcash, 67, of China Grove, passed away, Saturday, June 18, 2022 at his home.
He was born December 4, 1954, in Iredell Co. to Blondell Self Overcash and the late Demps Ray Overcash Sr.
Mark was a 1973 graduate of South Rowan High School. He also earned his Building Contractor's License from Mitchell Community College. Mark was talented in many areas. He worked in home construction most of his life building and remodeling homes. Growing up Mark was a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church in Enochville. After Mark retired, he explored multiple hobbies including pottery (in which he participated in shows with his art) and building fiddles and violins. Mark also continued his lifelong interest of music writing songs to his late wife and playing multiple instruments including drums, guitar, banjo, and bass guitar. Mark also loved fishing and hunting and loved the outdoors. Mark was well liked and will be missed by his friends and family.
Mark was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Benfield Brosh, of 35 years, Phyllis passed away in February 2019, sister Frances Todd and her husband Tommy, nephews, Dana Overcash, Brent Overcash, niece, April Poteat and her husband Ben, also preceded him.
Those left to cherish his memory, his mother Blondell Self Overcash, two brothers, Demps Overcash (Ajai) and Randy Overcash (Ginger), sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Ron Matthews, brother-in-law, Tony Benfield, nephews; Destry Overcash, Cameron Overcash, Jay Todd (Kim) and Mark Lefler (Melissa), also numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 23 at 3:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Demps Overcash officiating.
A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-3 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home.
