Obituary: Marshall Edward "Buck" Upright, 77, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at CMC-NE after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 27, 2012 at Whitley's Main Chapel, with Rev. David Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home on Thursday, April 26. Buck was born October 11, 1934 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Gother Calvin Upright and Mary Isenhour Upright. He was one of nine children. He was a life-long area resident. Buck worked for Cannon Mills Co. for many years and then started Upright Logging with his brother, Calvin. Later he worked as a logger for Ralph Smith. Buck loved NASCAR races and going to Cherokee. He loved camping in thee Smokey Mountains and riding horses. He enjoyed Rabbit hunting and kept numerous beagles. Buck was proud of the '67 Chevy pick-up truck that he restored. He was a loving brother and uncle and will be missed. In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Janie Ruth Mayfield, Daisy Morris, Mary Ida Davis and "infant sister" Clarsie Mae and by 2 brothers; George "Chip" Upright and John Howard "Bo" Upright. He is survived by his brothers; Calvin J. Upright (Merle) and Sammy R. Upright (Barbara) and sister-in-law, Bertie Upright, all of Kannapolis. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday April 26, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park.
