Martha Holt Helms

Obituary: Concord, NC-Martha Holt Helms, age 75, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 23, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. She was born December 10, 1935 in Union County, NC, the daughter of the late Sidney O. Holt and Eva Mae Deese Holt. In earlier years Martha was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt. #4 for seven years and later with Lance Corp., Charlotte, NC for six years until her retirement. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church, Concord, NC where she was an active prayer warrior and involved with the women of mission program. Martha loved her Lord and her family. She is fondly thought of by her family as a N.C. Carolina Tarheels basketball fan. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Mott Lee Helms who died in February 2008 and her daughter, Betty Helms Kale in 1989. The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Parkwood Baptist Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Michael Waters and Rev. Darrell Coble. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Helms of Charlotte, NC; three sons, Jimmy Helms of Mooresville, NC, James E. Helms & wife, Irene of Concord, NC, and Michael Helms of Kannapolis, NC; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
