Obituary: Martha Head Laney, 83, of Kannapolis, passed away March 1, 2018 at the Tucker Hospice House. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday March 6, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris O'Guin officiating, burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. She was born June 7, 1934 in Mecklenburg Co. to the late Milas Eli Head and Mary E. Auten Head. Martha worked at Cannon Mills for many years until her retirement, she enjoyed working with her flowers, Martha was a loving, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Laney, and her sons Douglas Brodas Laney Jr., and Richard Laney. Those left to cherish her memory, three sons; Robert Laney (Reba) of Morristown, TN, Roger Laney (Edna) of China Grove, Milas Laney of Kannapolis, seven grandchildren; Dewayne Laney, Shane Laney, Richard Douglas Laney, Sherry Cline, James Robert Laney, Michael Laney, Shannon Laney, two great grandchildren, one brother Milas "Buddy" Head, and one sister Shirleen Fisher.
