Martha Childers Sloop

Obituary: Martha "Susie" Childers Sloop, 80, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Susie was born November 17, 1937 in Alexander County, NC a daughter of the late James Homer Childers and Martha Leigh Barnette Childers. Also proceeding her in death was her husband of 53 years; Everette Wayne Sloop, Sr. , two brothers and four sisters; Sally Shaw, Betty Hooper, Linda Yates and Orene Jordan. Susie is survived by four children; Susan Kerley, Lori Duffy and Fiancé James Leigh, and Nona Hill and husband Rodney, all of Kannapolis. Also surviving is one son, Everette Wayne Sloop, Jr. and wife Amber of Granite Quarry. Out of nine sisters Susie is survived by four sisters; Jeraldine Privette, Maxine Rushing, Joyce Storm, and Debbie Lambert. Mrs. Sloop retired from Cannon Mills Plt. #1, sewing room, with 25 years of service. She attended Bethel Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed sewing and loved helping her customers at Ben Franklin Crafts. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. Her heart was full with love for her 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Joe Harding. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
