Martin ''Eric '' Gentle

Obituary: Martin "Eric" Gentle, 56, went home to be with his Lord from his residence on Monday, October 30, 2017 after 6+ years of declining health. Eric's funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday. November 2 at Pitts Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Davis officiating, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friend at Pitts Baptist Church from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. Prior to the funeral. Eric was born August 2, 1961 and raised in Kannapolis, a son of Arnold E. Gentle of Kannapolis and the late Norma McDaniel Gentle. He graduated from AL Brown High in 1979 and earned a BS in accounting in 1984 from UNC Charlotte. He was a member of Pitts Baptist Church. Eric worked in finances for Nestle USA for 24 years, living in many different communities across the US and Switzerland before retiring on disability in 2012 from the Bev. Division. He enjoyed singing, travel and cars. Eric was a godly and loving husband and father. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his mother, Eric was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dennis Starnes. Eric is survived by his father, his wife of 33 years Amy Starnes Gentle of the home, his daughter, Meredith Gentle of Durham and his son, Matthew Gentle of CA. He is also survived by 2 brothers; Scott Gentle (Anita) of Landis and Keith Gentle (Greta) of Terrell and his sister-in-law, Lou Russel Starnes of Concord.
