Martin Paul Rater, Sr.

Obituary: Martin Paul Rater, Sr., age 85, of Concord took his final checkered flag, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Rater was born March 9, 1932 in Sherman, NY the son of the late Lee Rater and Hazel Smith Rater. He was a graduate of Sherman High School in Sherman, NY and was a Veteran of the US Army serving in Korean War. Martin was owner of Clymer Auto Repair and was an avid race fan and racecar driver. Preceding him in death was a son Michael Rater. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of over 50 years Marylou Rater; children Ronald Rater (Debbie) of Charlotte, Martin Rater, Jr. (Barbara) of Greenbelt MD, Brian Rater (Carolina) of Charlotte, Randy Rater (Marion) of Waterford, PA, Melody Covey (Paul) Clymer, NY, Dennis Rater (Lori) of Spartansburg, PA, Tim Rater (Brenda) Clymer, NY; and Sherry Braswell (Billy Jo) Clymer, NY; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 28, at Carolina Memorial Park. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the Rater family.
