Obituary: Martin Sexton "Big M" age 50 of Kannapolis went to Heaven on Monday, September 3, 2018 surrounded by his family. His funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 8 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Scoggins officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, September 7. Martin was born February 1, 1968 in Wilmington, DE, a son of the late Ella Mae Browning Sexton. He was a member of 2nd Baptist Church and worked as a foreman for Galvan Industries in Harrisburg until retiring on disability in 2000. Martin enjoyed hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling. He loved his Marlboro Reds and Pepsis. He loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Martin will be dearly missed. In addition to his mother, Martin was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Sexton. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 32 years, Julie Sexton; his sons, Marty Sexton (Amber), Jamie Sexton (Barbie) and Alex Sexton, all of Kannapolis, and son, Steven Sexton (Miranda) of China Grove, his father and mother in-laws, Richard Hough (Kay), of Kannapolis, his sister, Mary S. James of Kannapolis, his nephews, Byron James, of Kannapolis, Anthony Sexton (Brittany), Richie James (Amber), of West Virginia, his two nieces, Salena Walters, of Kannapolis, and Makenzie Harrington ( Robert), of China Grove, and his beloved grandchildren Anna, Alyssa, Sofia, Thomas, Ella, Ruthie, Peyton, Brantley, Bentley, Nevaeh, Phoenix.
