Obituary: Marvin Eugene Correll, age 81, of Kannapolis passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 at his home after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 7 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. H. Warren Casiday and Rev. Willie Rash officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 to 4:00 PM prior to the funeral. Marvin was born April 21, 1933 in Rowan Co., a son of the late James W. and Emma Carter Correll. He was a life-long area resident and in earlier years worked for Cannon Mills Co. as head loom fixer in Plant #1. Later he worked for Estes Express Line as a switcher until retiring in 1993.Marvin was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, James, Clayton and Benjamin Correll. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Lou Jean Pethel Correll of the family home, his son, Lynn Correll (Mary) of Carolina Beach, his daughter, Kathy C. Cook of Milton GA; his 5 grandchildren, James Correll (Brandi), Kara Bushey (Marvin), Phillip Cook II, Taylor Cook and Madison Cook and 3 great-grandchildren; Cole and Jaiden Correll and Lincoln Bushey, a sister-in-law, Doris Ann Correll of Kannapolis, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and special friends, Belva Trotman and Terry Walker. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Belva Trotman and Rev. Willie Rash and his wife Sherree for all their love and support shown to Marvin and Lou Jean.
