Mary Church Adams

Obituary: Mary Church Adams, 87, of Kannapolis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 31, 2013 from CMC-NE in Concord after a period of declining health. Her Funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, June 2 at Kannapolis Church of God. Her family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, at other times the family will be at her residence. Burial will follow at 11:00 AM Monday, June 3 at Carolina Memorial Park. Mary was born December 7, 1925 in Iredell Co. NC, a daughter of the late Roy G. and Eulalia Benfield Church. She was a life long area resident and member of Kannapolis Church of God. Mary was active in her church; teaching Sunday school for over 60 years, singing in the choir, participating in the Women's Ministries and the Big Elm Parish Ministry. When Mary became homebound, she continued serving her church family through the phone call & card ministries. Mary retired from Cannon Mills Wash Cloth Dept. She also held office in the United Commercial Travelers. Mary enjoyed hiking and camping with family and friends and was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents; Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, John F. Adams, Sr., her sisters; Helen Beaver and Ruby Cheek and her brothers; Buck and Paul Church. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John "Frankie" Adams (Linda) of Tampa FL, her daughter, Pam Adams of Landis, her granddaughters; Kimberly Garcia (Danny) of Land O Lakes, FL and Kandace Barco (John) of Hillsboro, OR and her beloved great-grandsons; Caleb, Elijah and Donnell. She is also survived by her brother, Roy Church Jr. of Raleigh and her sisters, Margaret Helms of Kannapolis, Joan Sherrill of Mooresville and Ann Smith of Johnson City TN.
