Mary Alice Strider Russell

Obituary: Mary Alice Strider Russell, 74 of Kannapolis passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at CMC-Northeast following a period of declining health. Mrs. Russell was born on March 8, 1938 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Floyd and Elizabeth Starnes Strider. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Velcer DeWitt Russell who died in 2006 and a brother Alfred Strider. Funeral services for Mrs. Russell will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Whittington. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Mrs. Russell was a member of First Baptist Church Enochville and a homemaker. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two sons; Samuel Russell and wife Patty, and David Russell and wife Linda, both of Kannapolis, 2 daughters; Sandra R. Sullivan and husband James of Kannapolis, and Elizabeth R. Yon and husband Ronnie of China Grove, 8 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Enochville, 2308 Davis St. Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Visitation: 7:00-9:00 PM, Friday January 11, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 3:00 PM, Saturday January 12, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park
