Mary Chavis

Obituary: Mary Louise Moser Chavis of Kannapolis passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born on November 11, 1923 in Caldwell Co. NC a daughter of the late Frank B. and Mary Bryson Moser. Mary was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and retired after 45 years of service with cannon Mills Plant1 #7 weave room. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and never met a stranger. Mary resided at Caremoor since 2011 and built a strong bond with her caregivers there. She is survived by her son, James W. "Woody" Chavis, Jr. and wife, Deena, a granddaughter, Kaci Chavis and a step-grandson, Shane Blalock, all of Kannapolis. She is also survived by her brother, John Moser and wife, Shirley and her sister, Betty Moser Benfield of Lenoir and two nieces, Joyce Moser Crotts and Sharon Benfield Philyaw. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Chavis, Sr., brothers, Jim and Tom Moser and her beloved sister, Frankie "Bill" Moser Davis. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 8 at Memorial United Methodist with Rev. Jim Brookshire officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Ln.
